Sam Cutajar, a scholarship recipient of the Abedian School of Architecture, brings a broad range of experience across design and documentation. His professional journey includes roles at Reddog Architects, BDA, Buchan, and architectural firms in London.
Sam has worked across a diverse range of typologies, from alterations and additions to traditional Queenslanders to new build homes, townhouses, and larger-scale projects, including school buildings, multi-residential developments, and large lifestyle storage and commercial buildings. He is involved across all project phases and has worked closely with consultants to help coordinate and deliver projects.
In addition to design and documentation, Sam regularly attends site visits and is client facing, gaining hands-on experience in project discussions and decision-making. This involvement has given him a broader understanding of project progression beyond the studio, further informing his approach to architectural practice.
Proficient in Archicad and Revit, Sam has spent years refining his skills in both platforms, with a stronger focus on Archicad in recent years. He is highly skilled in Lumion rendering and the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro) and has working knowledge of SketchUp, Rhino, and Twinmotion.
Beyond practice, Sam has a strong interest in independent media. He co-runs AJAR Studio with his brother, a graduate architect himself, pursuing thoughtful design and independent publishing through AJAR Zine. As a purely physical publication, AJAR Zine explores themes of art, design, the built environment, and cultural discourse, with a regional focus on creatives practicing on Kombumerri and Bundjalung Country.
Through a commitment to detail and continuous learning, Sam is dedicated to producing thoughtful, well-executed work that contributes meaningfully to both the built environment and creative discourse.
